We broke bread with Brazilian pastries and tea, an offering of thanks to Paulo Freire, for his gift - a framework for freedom used by educators, scholars, and activists throughout the world. 

Excerpts from Pedagogy of the Oppressed were presented by artist and educator jc lenochan and social engineer Ayesha Williams of the Laundromat Project. Together, on a Saturday afternoon, we explored themes of love, action, consciousness, and freedom with an intimate group of artists and scholars. Poet Bimpé Fageyinbo, surprised us with the gorgeous recitation of At What Cost and A Woman’s Legacy (bringing the room to tears).
